JU’s Dept of Geography conducted an Induction Programme 

JAMMU, November 06: The Department of Geography  held a prestigious Induction Programme on November 6th, 2023, to welcome the incoming batch of students for the academic years 2023-25.

 The event, which was conducted with great enthusiasm, aimed to introduce the new students to the department’s faculty, courses, and the exciting opportunities that await them.

The Induction Programme was hosted by Shikha and Habibullah, distinguished research scholars of the department. The event commenced with a warm and formal welcome address by Dr. Sarfaraz Asgher, the incharge Head of Department (HOD), who extended his greetings to the students and shared his valuable insights about the department’s academic journey.

Dr. Shashi Prabha, an esteemed Assistant Professor, enlightened the students with a detailed discussion on the Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) of the geography course, providing an overview of what the students could expect from their academic journey.

Miss Suman Kumari, Assistant Professor, introduced the students to the SWAYAM course, underlining the importance of online learning resources in enhancing their education.

The Induction Programme featured a felicitation ceremony for the newly recruited Assistant Professors and KAS officers who have joined the department. It was a moment of pride and honor for the department to welcome these talented  students who will contribute to the academic excellence of the department.

The event also witnessed the presence of two distinguished former HODs, Dr. M.N. Kaul and Prof. G.B., who shared their valuable wisdom and experiences with the students, offering them guidance and inspiration for their academic journey.

An inspiring alumni of the department, Mr. Samer Kotwal, who has been appointed in JKPS (Jammu and Kashmir Police Service), shared his experiences and motivated the students with his insights and achievements.

The Induction Programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by the Departmental Representative, Miss Gurleen Kour, who expressed her gratitude to all participants and attendees, extending warm wishes to the new batch of students.
