Active Community participation a must for effective, need based development: DC Ramban
Asks line departments to work for developing Dhandrath Halla Panchayat on modern lines
RAMBAN, November 08: Asserting that people’s active participation in decision making plays an important role in overall development of an area, Deputy Commissioner Baseer-Ul- Haq Chaudhary today said that the locals should be involved while making and executing developmental plans of the area.
The Deputy Commissioner said this while participating in ‘Back to Village 5’ programme in Panchayat Halla of Ramban district.
The DC directed the line departments to work in tandem to develop the rural areas like Panchayat Dhandrath Halla on modern lines, saying that it should be developed as Model Panchayat of the district .
Calling upon the people, particularly youth, to actively contribute towards the development of the country and betterment of their localities, the DC asked the people to come forward to take part in the development process of their respective areas. He strongly batted for active community participation to achieve effective and need based development.
He urged the youth to take benefits from different beneficiary oriented schemes offered under different sectors by the Government. He asked the locals to put forth department and sector-wise development plans in the next Block Diwas so that their developmental needs are fulfilled.
Responding to the issues highlighted by the PRIs, locals and youth of the area, the Deputy Commissioner passed on-the-spot directions to the concerned functionaries for early redressal of the same. He said that the genuine demands of the locals regarding setting up of Naibiat office at Dhandrath area would be looked into for the convenience of general masses. He directed Chief Medical Officer, Ramban for organizing a Special Health Camp in the areas, besides deputing medicos in Health and Wellness Centre on rotational basis to provide better medicare to the patients of the area at their doorsteps.
Directing the Chief Education Officer to upgrade toilet facilities for the students and staff of the local school, the DC also directed the District Sheep Husbandry Officer to conduct frequent field visits of the area to provide better services to sheep breeders.
Interacting with the faculty, the Deputy Commissioner termed the teachers as builders of the nation. He asked them to focus on imparting quality education to the students for their overall development, besides preparing them to crack prestigious competitive examinations. He also inspected infrastructure available in the school.
Interacting with the students, he said that their demand with regard to change of school timing would be looked into.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner inaugurated the Carrom tournament for U19 boys category organized by the District Youth Services and Sports department.
Earlier, locals projected a chatter of demands which included development of the playground, replacement of wooden poles with iron polls with the provision of transformers, up-gradation of Karol-Kumait Halla road, with installation of crash barriers at critical locations, and construction of community hall.
Likewise, Back to Village 5 Phase-II has been started in 40 Panchayats of 4 Blocks and Phase-I of B2V5 has been successfully completed today in 3 Blocks of Ramban district.
