GDC Marh hosts maiden 2-day orientation cum training ‘NIPUN’ camp for college Scouts & Guides
JAMMU, November 9: With the objective to groom college Scouts & Guides and develop their full physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual potentials as responsible citizens, and as member of local, National and International communities, a two day NIPUN Camp for 3 units of rangers/Rovers of JKBSG was inaugurated today at Government Degree College Marh.
Witnessing great zeal and enthusiasm, the camp commences under supreme guidance and captainship of the College Principal Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul.
The inaugural programme began with felicitation of guests with bouquets and mementos, lighting of traditional lamp which added spirituality to the whole event. The guests were formerly welcomed by Dr. Balwinder Saini, unit leader (Rovers) of the college.
The key note address was delivered by the Principal. He appreciated the role of Bharat Scouts & Guides in shaping the personality of Rangers and Rovers and their services to the humanity. He also emphasised on the need of such activities to e benefit the students who finally serve the society with quality and motivation.
The programme was graced by the maiden visit of Chief Guest of the occasion Prof. Dr. Renu Nanda, State Commissioner (Rangers) and Maitree Jain, State Commissioner (Guide) as guest of honour.
In the words of Wisdom spoken by Dr. Renu Nanda deeply resonated with the young Rangers/Rovers emphasising the core values and principles held by this movement. She also congratulated the principal for his tireless efforts for bringing BSG in the college.
Harbans Lal Dogra, State Treasurer JK BS&G, R .P Kotwal, State Training Commissioner, Scouts, Kasturi Lal Sharma and Haroon Malik were also present at the inaugural ceremony and conducted the activities of Ist day of the training/ orientation the camp, emphasizing the role of Youth as cream of any country in bringing growth and development in every aspect of a Nation. They encouraged the college youth for their efforts in the realization of aims, objectives and laws of BSG. They also congratulated the principal of the college for getting registered in J&K UT Bharat Scouts & Guides under registration no BS&G/J/615/2023 dated 5th October 2023.
A plethora of colourful cultural programme on Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh culture were presented by college students which added feathers to the event and was highly appreciated by the guests. The cultural programme was prepared by cultural committee of the college headed by Dr. Ashu Jolly and co-convener Dr. Ruchika including Er.Samit Gupta, Kewal krishan, Mohit Kalotra, Rachhpal Lal, Neeta and their team including students from all streams and semesters: namely Shivani, Sushain Sharma, Harsh Kumar, Neeraj Kumar, Pallavi, Simran, Richa, Anu Manhas, Vishali Devi, Tanu Verma, Palak Saini, Komal Verma, Suhani, Sneha, Shreya, Neha, Anjali, Khushi and Sanaya.
The programme was anchored by Sanjana Bhagat and Prerna Balgotra. Students decorated the event venue with beautiful flowers, decoration and rangoli patterns. Hospitality committee headed by Tanu Verma not only managed all refreshments and lunch for the guests skilfully but also gave a training to her committee students of 1st Semester Arts, Komal, Roshani, Suneha, Riya, Palak, Monika, Vanishika, Shivali, Babita, Sweety & Mansha. The discipline and seating arrangement for the whole event was supervised by Dr. Balwinder Saini Unit Leader (Rover) and his team of students from 1st Semester Arts Aryan, Vishal, Rahul, Jaswinder, Atinder, Ketan, Sanjeev, Rijul, Surinder & Gourav. Behind the stage, a colourful presentation on Bharat Scouts and Guide was prepared including glimpses of earlier inauguration of GDC Mahanpur and presented by Prof. Shallu Gupta, Unit Leader 1 (Ranger). In the end of 1st day camp formal vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Asha Kumari Unit Leader 2 (Ranger).
