One-day training on Tax Deduction at Source under the Goods and Service Tax Act 2017 for Drawing and Disbursing Officers Conducted

LEH, November 09: On the direction of the Commissioner Secretary of State Taxes Department, Union Territory of Ladakh Kacho Mehboob Ali Khan, conducted a GST awareness cum Training program for the drawing and disbursing officers (DDOs) of Leh district at the conference hall of the DC office, Leh.

Director of Finance and Additional Commissioner, State Taxes, UT Ladakh Safdar Ali was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The Additional Commissioner, in his opening remarks, said that the government officers, who deal with the procurement of goods and services, should understand GST law relating to TDS, return filing, and payment of Tax.

Inspector of State Taxes, Leh Zulfikar Ali imparted awareness cum training to the DDOs on TDS under GST Act through power point presentation. The speaker highlighted the responsibilities of DDOs as tax deductors under the GST Act, the procedure of registration of DDOs as tax deductors, different methods of tax payment, and the filing of returns. Later, the speaker cleared the doubts of the audience regarding TDS under the GST Act. The Additional Commissioner, impressed upon the officers to follow the GST law regarding TDS, while making payments against the supply of taxable goods and services. He also stated that the department will conduct an awareness program for the taxpayers of Leh in the coming days.

DDOs and dealing officials of various departments of the Leh district attended the program. Assistant Commissioner, State Taxes Department, Ladakh, Fesal Iqbal Tantray, and Phunstog Namgail, State Taxes Officer, Leh were also present on the occasion. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Inspector of Sales Tax Zulfikar Ali.
