GDCW Kathua organizes awareness program on Swachh Diwali Shubh Diwali

Kathua: Government Degree College for Women Kathua, took a proactive stance in promoting a cleaner and greener Diwali through a special program on ‘Swachh Diwali Shubh Diwali’, under the esteemed guidance of Dr. Savi Behl, the Principal of the college. The initiative aimed to create sense of responsibility among students for celebrating a pollution-free Diwali. The highlight of the event was the ‘Swachh Diwali Signature Campaign’, encouraging students to pledge their commitment to a clean and green Diwali by signing a dedicated pledge board.

This unique initiative sought to raise awareness about the importance of celebrating festivals in an environmentally friendly manner. As part of the program, a documentary was also screened for students, shedding light on the impact of Diwali celebrations on the environment and providing insights into sustainable and eco-friendly practices.

The screening aimed to educate students about the adverse effects of pollution during the festive season and inspire them to adopt responsible ways of celebrating. The event also provided a platform for students to express their views on Diwali celebrations and share innovative ideas on making the festival more eco-conscious.

Their enthusiastic participation showcased a deep commitment to embracing a cleaner and pollution-free Diwali.

The program was coordinated by faculty members: Dr. Anupam Manuhaar, Department of Economics, Ms. Ambika Rajput, Department of English and Ms. Pallavi, Department of Political Science, and the program was graced by several esteemed faculty members: Dr. Rachna Devi, Dr. Arun Dev Singh, Dr. Renu, Mr. Vijay Kumar, Dr. Vaishno Devi, and Dr. Shivali. Their collaborative efforts ensured the success of the ‘Swachh Diwali Shubh Diwali campaign’ at Government Degree College for Women, Kathua. Principal Dr. Savi Behl expressed her appreciation for the active participation and commitment shown by both students and faculty members. She emphasized the college’s ongoing dedication to promoting environmental awareness and sustainable practices.
