Doda: 487 PMAY (U) houses completed, work on  1046 underway across 3 Municipal Townships

DC asks authorities to extend full support to houseless beneficiaries

DODA, NOVEMBER 11: To evaluate the implementation and progress under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY)-Urban, a meeting of the Officers of line Departments was held today here under the Chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Harvinder Singh.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhaderwah Chowdhary Dil Mir; Chief Planning Officer, Suresh Kumar; ACD Doda Phulail Singh; besides officers of Housing Board and other concerned departments attended the meeting.

At the outset, the CPO presented a detailed appraisal about the implementation of the PMAY-Urban scheme in different parts of the District. The DC was apprised that as on date, as many as  have been completed so far in Municipal Council Doda and twin Municipal Committees of Bhaderwah and Thathri. It was further given out that more than 1046 houses are at different phases of construction.

The meeting was also apprised about the release of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd installments in favour of beneficiaries who have started construction of their houses under PMAY (U) in the district. The DC was also apprised that an amount of Rs 16.50 crores have been disbursed till date in the accounts of genuine beneficiaries after following due procedure and multilevel verification.

Pertinent to mention that Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Urban (PMAY-U) has been launched by the Government with the aim to provide ease of living to weaker sections in urban areas.

The DC directed the concerned officers to ensure the completion of ongoing works by 31st of December 2023. DFOs have been asked to provide timber to the beneficiaries under PMAY on priority basis so that their houses can be completed timely and housless are provided their own permanent houses. He asked the concerned to ensure that the scheme guidelines are followed in letter and spirit so that all genuine eligible beneficiaries are benefited under the PMAY-U scheme in the District. He impressed upon the field functionaries to follow the robust mechanism already put in place to ensure immediate verification and processing of cases at each stage of construction and consequent disbursement of payments to the verified beneficiaries under the scheme.
