ADC Leh reviews arrangements for celebration of Losar Festival
Leh, Nov 30,2023: In preparation for the Losar festival, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Leh, Sonam Chosjor today convened a meeting to review the arrangements for the celebration of the upcoming Losar festival in the district with the concerned stakeholders and the departmental officers and religious heads.
ADC Sonam Chosjor emphasized the importance of uninterrupted essential services during the festival. He specifically directed officers to ensure a continuous supply of electricity and drinking water among others.
Stakeholders requested their requirements, including security measures, medical assistance, parking facilities, and cleanliness. ADC Leh directed concerned officers to address these demands effectively.
To add to the festive ambiance, stakeholders requested ADC Leh to illuminate key buildings and locations such as Leh Palace, Singey Namgyal Chowk, and Leh Gate.
ADC Leh, instructed the Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Department to ensure the availability of essential ration to the public. Cooperative Department was urged to stock essential items adequately, encouraging the public to utilize the services provided by Cooperative Societies in their respective areas.
Also, a mobile van was requested in the far flung areas to provide the services of Cooperative.
Acknowledging concerns about market prices and product quality, stakeholders requested a market-checking squad.
ADC Leh responded by instructing a thorough inspection, with any shop found in violation facing seizure and imposition of a challan.
During the meeting, the ban on the use of crackers was highlighted as a measure to ensure environmental sustainability and the well-being of the community.
The meeting was attended by heads of various departments and organizations, including Superintendent Engineers from PWD, PHE, and PDD, Divisional Forest Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Deputy Registrar Cooperative, Assistant Director FCS&CA, Executive Engineers from PDD/PHE, Executive Officer MC, representatives from Ladakh Buddhist Association and Youth Wing, as well as the President of the Merchant Association, Leh. ADC Leh concluded the meeting by stressing the collective responsibility of all stakeholders.
