TLSC Kangan organizes Awareness programme on World AIDS Day
GANDERBAL, DECEMBER 01: Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC) Kangan today observed World HIV/ AIDS Day at Trauma Hospital Kangan.
The programme, organized under the Chairmanship of Chairman TLSC Kangan, Easar-Ul-Nabi was attended by Medical Superintendent Trauma Hospital Kangan, Dr. Salma and medical and Para Medical Staff of hospital, Resource Person Advocate Sajad Ahmad Khan, Staff Members and PLVs of Tehsil Legal Services Committee Kangan and general public.
Chairman TLSC Kangan said on the occasion that HIV AIDS can only be prevented by making society aware about proper preventive measures and how to maintain a hygienic life.
Dr. Shabir Ahmad Rather and Dr. Insha delivered lectures on the said topic and highlighted ways, methods and preventive measures to prevent the spread of HIV Aids.
Dr. Shabir Ahmad Rather speaking on the occasion said that the theme of this year’s day is ‘Let Communities Lead’ because Change depends not on a moment but on a movement. He urged the gathering to spread awareness among common people how to prevent HIV Aids.
Resource Person Advocate Sajad Ahmad Khan threw light on the statistics of HIV AIDS in India and the World. He said as of 2020 AIDS has killed between 27.2 million people in India and 47.8 Million people worldwide and an estimated 37.7 million people are living with HIV, making it one of the most important global public health issues in recorded history.
He also said in many regions of the world, the death rate from the AIDS epidemic has decreased by 64% since its peak in 2004.
