Agriculture Office Udhampur celebrates World Soil Day

UDHAMPUR, December 5: The Chief Agriculture Office in Udhampur orchestrated an impressive function to observe World Soil Day, underscoring a commitment to sustainable agriculture.

A significant highlight was the distribution of Soil Health cards among local farmers, providing crucial insights for informed crop management decisions.

Farmers and officials convened, symbolically holding the soil in a collective pledge, emphasizing its pivotal role in agricultural ecosystems and the environment.

Beyond resource distribution, the ceremony aimed to instill a shared responsibility for soil conservation and sustainable farming practices.

Expressing enthusiasm about the event, key figures like Area Development Officer (Veg) Udhampur Sukhbir Singh, District Agriculture Officer (Extn) Udhampur Anil Kachroo, and Mushroom Development Officer Arun Samyal highlighted the importance of soil health in ensuring food security and environmental sustainability.

This initiative reflects Udhampur’s commitment to promoting agricultural practices prioritizing soil health and the farming community’s well-being. The efforts of the Soil Testing Laboratory Udhampur were also acknowledged during the event.

A similar function was held at the Zonal Office Jib, graced by the presence of AEO Jib  Sanjeev Gupta and the field staff of the zone.
