Director Agriculture Jammu Ram Savak inaugurates Two day Conference on Agriculture Development

Kathua:Ram Savak, JKAS, Director Agriculture, Jammu along with Chief Agriculture Officer Kathua Sanjeev Rai Gupta Jammu inaugurated two day Conference on Agriculture Development at Office Complex of Chief Agriculture Officer, Kathua.

Speaking on occasion Ram Savak , KAS, Director Of Agriculture ,Jammu said Department of Agriculture is organizing various such events to mobilize, encourage, motivate the farming community and aspiring young entrepreneurs in the field of Agriculture and allied sector. He said farming community should take full advantage of technical support from Department of Agriculture and allied sector to enhance their income thereby uplifting their livelihood.

Raghunandan Singh, Vice Chairman, DDC Kathua also spoke on the occasion. He requested farmers to avail all the benefits from the department and reap the blooming harvest. He also praised Agriculture department Kathua for its efforts in development of Agriculture in Kathua district.

.Sh. Sanjeev Rai Gupta deliberated upon various schemes implemented by the department. He said Mushroom cultivation, Apiculture development shall be taken up as enterprise to enhance the income. He also said Holistic agriculture Development Program implemented by the Hon’ble LG has helped in availing online benefits of various schemes and components such as farm mechanization, mushroom cultivation, apiculture development, Exotic vegetable cultivation, alternate agriculture development, Niche crops development, rain-fed area development and generating irrigation sources in the agriculture field. He also stressed upon development of Organic farming in the District.

About 150 farmers from Kathua district participated in the Conference and availed the benefit from the technical expertise in development of Agriculture sector shared by  Dr. Vishal Mahajan ,Head ,Krishi Vigyan Kendra and Dr. Anamika Jamwal, Sr. Scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kathua

Other present on the first day of the conference were Murari Lal, District Agriculture Officers (Ext.) Kathua, Ashok Sarmal, Area Development Officer (Veg) Kathua, Ashwani Sharma, Mushroom Development Officer, Kathua, Anil Kumar Assistant Soil Chemist, STL Kathua, Raj Singh & Rajesh Mankotia, Subject Matter Specialists (District Level) Kathua, Parshotam Gupta, SDAO Kathua, Parmod Kumar, AEO Kathua, Sr. Devinder Singh, AEO and JAEOs. AEAs from the department.
