NC pays floral tributes to Dr B.R Ambedkar on his 67th death anniversary
Restore democratic rights of people of J&K: Rattan Lal Gupta
JAMMU, DEC 6: J&K National Conference today paid floral tributes to the architect of Constitution and Bharat Ratna, Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, on his 67th death anniversary during a function held at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan Jammu.
In this connection, a programme was organised by Vijay Lochan, Chairman JKNC SC Cell in which Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President JKNC Jammu was the Chief Guest. The Provincial President along with senior party leaders profusely garlanded the portrait of Bharat Ratna Baba Saheb.
Speaking on the occasion, Rattan Lal described the architect of the Constitution of India as a great visionary, saying the legendary leader worked tirelessly to foster egalitarian society and shed caste discrimination across the country. He said that the people will always remember Baba Saheb for giving the country best constitution of the world.
Gupta said that Dr Ambedkar was a great reformer who dedicated his entire life for the welfare of weaker sections and his contribution in that regard was exceptional. “There is greater need for collectively working for welfare of weaker sections of the society so that social inequality could be minimized,” he maintained.
The senior NC leader asked the government to restore the democratic rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that people of Jammu and Kashmir are being denied their rights enshrined in the Constitution of India. He asserted that the Government at the Centre has miserably failed to protect the constitution of the country. He said that BJP Government at the Centre has divided the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territory making mockery of the Constitution.
The senior NC leader emphasized that the Central Government would not have kept the erstwhile historic state under the spell of long undemocratic rule of outsourced bureaucracy. He urged the government at the Centre to restore democracy in Jammu and Kashmir by holding Assembly polls without any further delay. He appealed to the party workers that there is dire need to save Constitution and also to save the democracy In Jammu and Kashmir.
Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Provincial Secretary JKNC appealed to the party cadre to make people aware about the achievements of National Conference and work for strengthening the base of the Party. He said that only National Conference can fulfil the aspirations of people of J&K and ensure equitable development of the state.
Abdul Gani Malik former minister and Zone President Udhampur Reasi, in his address, said that Dr Ambedkar has constituted a constitution of the country with an aim to provide equal rights to the people of the country. But unfortunately the people of Jammu and Kashmir are being made to suffer in absence of a representative government for no fault of theirs, he said, asserting that the government has virtually broken the spine of common people due to its anti-people policies the results of which are easily visible to everyone.
Throwing light on various facets of the life and struggle of Dr. B.R Ambedkar, Vijay Lochan Chairman SC Cell said his unflinching commitment towards social justice brought about a revolutionary transformation in Indian social order and helped in carving a society based on equality, justice and opportunities for all. The best tribute to Baba Saheb would be to work for carving out a society where opportunities of progress are available to all irrespective of caste, creed, and colour, he added
Babu Jagjeevan Lal former minister and District President Reasi said the best tribute to the great leader would be an imbibe spirit of oneness which alone can lead the nation towards peace, progress and prosperity. He described Dr. Ambedkar him as Messiah of millions who shaped the destiny of millions of people across the country.
