Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra unveils Borthain’s triumph over   open defecation

KATHUA, DECEMBER 09: Mohan Lal, a hardworking and resilient individual from Village Borthain, Block Barnoti in Kathua had seen his fair share of struggles. One of the biggest challenges that he and his fellow villagers faced was the lack of proper sanitation facilities.

For years, the villagers had to cope with the inconvenience and unhygienic conditions due to the absence of toilets in their homes. They had to resort to open defecation, which not only posed health risks but also infringed upon their dignity. Mohan Lal dreamt of a day when every home in his village would have a toilet, ensuring cleanliness and privacy for all.

Little did Mohan Lal know that his dream was about to come true, thanks to the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The SBM aimed to make India open defecation-free and ensure access to proper sanitation facilities for every citizen.
