CUJ Inaugurates UGC-MMTTC for NEP 2020 Sensitization and Orientation
Jammu, 12th Dec, 2023– In a significant stride towards aligning with the transformative vision of the National Education Policy 2020, the Central University of Jammu (CUJ) – UGC Malviya Mission Teachers Training Centre (MMTTC) proudly inaugurated its first FDP on the theme: Holistic Multidisciplinary Education. The main objective of MMTTC is to conduct Orientation and Sensitization Programmes for the faculty members of Higher Educational Institutions on core NEP 2020 themes. As a part of the Malaviya Mission 111 institutions have been identified. The programme was conducted under this centre as per the guidelines of UGC.
To realize this vision MoE has sought the strengthening of synergy and integration between HRDC’S and PMMMMNMTT centres keeping in view the optimal utilization of infrastructure, human and financial resources and renaming the centre for capacity building as Malaviya Mission Teacher’s Training Centre.
Vice Chancellor Central University of Jammu, Prof. Sanjeev jain in his message expressed hope that in alignment with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of Viksit Bharat, the centre will facilitate the transformative journey reflecting on the profound impact educators have in shaping our future. Prof. Jain emphasised that Central University of Jammu committed to nurturing a cadre of inspired and empowered faculty members who will lead the charge in realizing the aspirations of NEP 2020.
Speaking at the inaugural session, Dr. Asit Mantry, Head Department of Educational Studies stated that teachers will play a leading role in nation building. He said that teacher fulfil the dreams of Vikshit Bharat realising the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister
Dr. Neelika Arora, Director, CUJ-UGC- MMTT centre apprised that the centre is mandated to offer various programs to improve the quality of teaching and empower faculty members through training, induction, refresher and short-term programs to ensure their continuous professional development. The centre shall be organising a series of Faculty Development Programs (FDC), this being the first in the series.
Prof. Ritu Bakshi, Dean Student’s welfare, Central University of Jammu, was the resource person for the first session. She spoke on the topic: Holistic Development as enriched in epics and man making education.
In the second session Dr. Richa Gupta, IIT Kharagpur delivered her lecture on the topic: Human values and their importance: Perspectives from Indian Knowledge systems. More than 100 participants from different institutions across the country participated in the program.
