DDC, SSP spearhead Road Safety Awareness Program
DODA, December 12: District Development Commissioner (DDC), Harvinder Singh and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abdul Qayoom today participated in an impactful road safety awareness program here at the TRC Pul Doda. The event aimed to enlighten participants on the significance of road safety, particularly targeting drivers and conductors.
The DDC inspected the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) stall, showcasing the commitment to disaster preparedness. In a noteworthy move, a medical checkup camp was hosted for drivers and conductors, underlining the holistic approach toward ensuring the well-being of those vital to the transportation sector.
The event witnessed the participation of various officers, including SE R&B Doda, ACD Doda, ARTO, Dy SP Traffic, CEO, EO Municipal Council Doda, Xen PWD R&B, representatives from the Transporter’s unions, Drivers and Conductors. This diverse representation emphasized a collective effort across departments to promote safer road practices and minimize the occurrence of road accidents.
During the program, the DDC asked transport agencies to provide insurance options for travellers. This initiative allows commuters to claim an insurance amount of Rs 2 lakh in case of any mishap during their travel, reinforcing the administration’s dedication to safeguard the lives and promoting accountability in the transportation sector. Such measures, coupled with awareness programs and inspections, play a pivotal role in maintaining and elevating road safety standards in the Doda region. The DC Doda also directed the concerned officers to establish restrooms for the drivers who travel long distances in particular areas.
