Progress on Jal Jeevan mission projects reviewed in Samba
DC asks for completion of all ongoing works by this month end
SAMBA, DECEMBER 12: Deputy Commissioner Samba, Abhishek Sharma today presided over a crucial review meeting that set the future course for effective implementation of the Jal Jeevan mission.
Senior Officers, including Mission Director G.N. Itoo, Consultant Manish Bhatt, and representatives from different departments, attended the meeting virtually.
The meeting commenced with a comprehensive presentation by the Superintending Engineer of the Hydraulic Circle Jammu, discussing the progress of civil, electromechanical, and drilling works related to Tube wells and Bore-wells under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).
The DC Samba conducted a thorough review of each scheme and set the deadline for completion of the majority of the projects by the end of December 2023, with the aim of achieving 100% district saturation by the 26th of January 2024.
He stressed the urgency to expedite the drilling of balance Tube wells in areas facing water stagnation and design discharge issues. He urged both civil divisions and contractors to increase efforts and meet the assigned targets on time, instructing the contractors to augment their manpower.
Emphasis was placed on accountability and quality control. The Assistant Executive Engineer was tasked with completing the Household Tap Connection (HGJ) certification for all villages within finalized schemes. The DC set 20th December 2023 as the deadline for geotagging of assets and Public Water Sources (PWS). The respective Independent Support Agencies (ISA) were asked to strictly adhere to their Terms of Reference.
To ensure transparency and accountability in all operations, the Third Party Inspection team has been assigned the responsibility of closely monitoring ongoing activities at various sites and submitting weekly reports with test results.
