DC Kishtwar discusses measures for optimising Saffron Grading, Packaging and Marketing
KISHTWAR, December 15: Development Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav,today chaired a pivotal session on optimizing the grading, packaging, and marketing of GI-tagged Saffron in Kishtwar District. The conference was attended by Progressive Saffron growers and FPOs and concerned officers, including Chief Agriculture Officer/Nodal Officer PM-FME Kishtwar Amjad Hussain Malik; Chief Horticulture Officer, Sajjid Mustafa and Saffron Development Officer Amarjeet Sen.
Amid enriched discussions, emphasis was laid on collective efforts towards the modernization of Saffron cultivation and marketing practices.
At the outset, Dr. Devansh Yadav extended heartfelt congratulations to all Progressive Saffron growers for the GI tag awarded to Kishtwar’s saffron, highlighting its significant benefits to the local farming community.
The meeting delved into strategic approaches concerning the comprehensive process of grading, packaging, and effective marketing strategies tailored specifically for the saffron industry within the district.
Additionally, a focused session was dedicated to enlightening Progressive farmers about the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme. Emphasizing its significance, the session highlighted the online application process via the dedicated portal (www.pmfme.mofpi.gov.in) for credit-linked subsidies available under the scheme.
Dr. Yadav urged and encouraged the attendees to leverage the PM FME Schemes, emphasizing the establishment of Saffron Processing and Grading Units for increased profitability and sustainable growth within the industry.
The meeting concluded with a collective commitment to implement the discussed strategies and initiatives, fostering a conducive environment for the holistic growth of the saffron sector in Kishtwar.
