Udhampur Admin organizes district level mock drill on earthquake and disaster rescue
UDHAMPUR, December 16: District Administration Udhampur, in collaboration with 13th Battalion NDRF and other stakeholder departments, today conducted a comprehensive district-level mock exercise focused on earthquake response and disaster rescue. The event was held in Government PG Degree College Boys, Udhampur.
The event witnessed the presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner, Joginder Singh Jasrotia, as the chief guest. Assistant Commandant 13th Battalion NDRF, Javed Iqbal, and several senior officers from SDRF, BSF, J&K Police, and civil society members actively participated in the exercise.
Addressing the gathering, the ADC emphasized the crucial role played by trained and equipped NDRF, SDRF, and Civil Defence volunteers in safeguarding lives and property during both natural and man-made disasters. He expressed gratitude to SDRF, Civil Defence, and other departments for organizing this vital mock exercise. Stressing on the importance of such awareness programs, he highlighted their role in empowering youth to confidently confront challenges posed by various disasters.
Assistant Commandant Javed Iqbal elaborated on the significance of the exercise, emphasizing the role of NDRF, SDRF, and Civil Defence organizations in educating the public about disaster management, first aid, and other critical issues of public interest. He underscored their efforts in mobilizing citizens and supporting civil administration during natural and man-made disasters.
The event featured live demonstrations showcasing different rescue operations and the usage of disaster management equipment, conducted by trained instructors from the NDRF.
