Condemns terror attack in Surankote area
Jammu, December 22 : Congress today held a strong protest demonstration, against the suspension for 142 MPs from Parliament to pass crucial draconian laws against democracy and asked people to rise to save democracy.
AS part of call of INDIA alliance for a nationwide protest to save democracy & Constitution and the way Modi Govt. is crushing democracy JKPCC President Shri Vikar Rasool Wani accompanied by other senior leaders led strong peaceful protest at Shaheedi Chowk Jammu outside PCC HQ Jammu today.
Senior functionaries of JKPCC, District Presidents and representatives of frontal wings like Mahila Congress, Seva Dal, NSUI, Youth Congress, INTUC, SC, ST, OBC, Minority Wing etc. took part in the protest carrying play cards and raising banners “ Save democracy – Save Constitution” and denouncing the suspension of MPs took out a march and were forcibly stopped by police from proceeding ahead of Residency Road.
Prominent leaders include Working President Shri Raman Bhalla, Senior Vice Presidents Shri Mula Ram, Th. Balwan Singh & Shri Ravinder Sharma, Vice Presidents, Yogesh Sawhney, T.S. Bajwa ,Yash Pal Kundal,Th. Balbir Singh, Indu Pawar, Pranav Shagotra besides Gurbachan Kumar Rana and others.
Talking to media persons JKPCC Chief Vikar Rasool Wani lashed out at the BJP for the undemocratic action of suspension of 146 MPs from the house, in order to pass crucial laws, without opposition including the law to oust the Chief Justice of India (CJI) from the selection panel of Chief Election Commission & Election Commissions, thus hijacking the democracy and the elections. He said there is great danger to the constitution and democracy in the country and the people will have to rise against this to save democracy.
JKPCC Chief strongly condemned the terrorist attack in DKG area of Poonch in which five army jawans have been martyred and other injured and termed the situation in Rajouri-Poonch and other parts as serious. The militancy has revived while BJP Govt. is making false claims. The Govt. should take concrete steps to control militancy and save innocents and our jawans. He paid rich tributes to the martyrs and expressed sympathies with their families.
The Working Presidents Raman Bhalla strongly criticized the dictatorial style of Modi-Shah Govt.. thus hijacking democracy. 146 MPs have been deliberately suspended to pass crucial laws to hijack democracy especially to out CJI from the selection panel of ECI. It is very dangerous move and the people must rise to save democracy and constitution, he added.
Senior Vice President & Chief Spokesperson Mr. Ravinder Sharma expressed great concern over the attacks on democracy by Modi Govt. and asked the people to rise to save democracy. He also expressed great concern over the rise in terrorism especially in Rajouri – Poonch and sought immediate measures to contain terrorism.
A large number of congress workers including Mahila workers raised strong sloganeering and lodged strong protest as part of the nation wide call of the India alliance parties and the AICC in this regard.
