Govt Degree College Hiranagar celebrates Dogri Recognition Day

Homage paid to Bhaakh Queen Krishna Kumari, eminent Dogri Scholar Dr. Shiv Dev Singh Manhas

KATHUA, DECEMBER 22 : Government Girdhari Lal Dogra Memorial Degree College Hiranagar today paid homage to Bhaakh Queen Krishna Kumari and eminent Dogri Scholar, Dr. Shiv Dev Singh Manhas to mark the Dogri Recognition Day.

 Organised under the supervision of the College Principal Dr. Pragya Khanna, and supervision of HOD Dogri Department, National Sahitya Akademi Awardee Ganga Sharma, the event highlighted the achievements of the icons of Dogri culture and heritage.

 In her address, HoD Dogri Department talked about the powerful voice and emotional journey of the Bhaakh Queen. She also shared her experience as one of the students of Dr. Manhas that it was an honour for her to be a student of such an eminent professor of Dogri Language. She added in her address that Dr. Manhas was an expert in writing Child Literature, Folk tales, Folk plays, Fiction, Drama, Translation of Prose, Criticism, etc.

 The event was graced with the Dogri Bhaakhs sung by Krishna Kumari ji and Dogri  Poems written by Dr. Manhas leaving a deep imprint on the minds of the audience present over there.

Other eminent senior colleagues who graced the event with their presence included Prof.Rakesh Kumar, Prof. Poonam Kamotra, Prof. Sazzad, Prof. Arun,Prof.Vijay.

The event was culminated by keeping a vow of silence by all the students and staff members as a prayer to Almighty for granting peace to the noble souls.
