GDC Ramgarh organises lecture on Punjabi Language to celebrate Viksit Bharat @ 2047
SAMBA, December 22: Government Degree College, Ramgarh organised an Awareness Programme for propagation of Punjabi Language on the theme “Celebrating our Heritage” under the aegis of “Viksit Bharat @ 2047: Voice of Youth”.
In this event, an awareness lecture and a poster making activity was organised on the theme, “Importance of Punjabi Language”. The event was organised under the supervision and able guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, Principal of the College who recapitulated honourable Prime Minister’s vision to actively involve the youth of the country in making India a developed nation by 2047 by performing the duties of a citizen and celebrating the heritage and languages of the country.
The activity started with the introductory lecture session on the relevance and applicability of Punjabi language by Prof. (Dr.) Snobar, HOD, Department of Punjabi. She informed the students that Punjabi language is among the 22 official languages in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution. She laid emphasis on the cultural and historical importance of Punjabi language and its use in our day-to-day conversation and its relevance & inclusion in the state and national level competitive exams. She apprised the students that the Punjabi language plays a key role in shaping the multi-cultural identity of the diverse country like India. She appreciated the role of the local and national Punjabi writers and their literary works in the propagation of the Punjabi language. In her lecture, she emphasised that the promotion of the Punjabi Language in particular and other regional languages in general, among Indians, will help them to come out of the colonial mindset and achieve the goal of Viksit Bharat.
The aim of the activity was to foster an awareness about the relevance of local and native languages and encourage the students to consciously engage in the activities leading to promotion of National languages and mother tongue.
A large number of students of the college enthusiastically participated in the poster making competition. The faculty members who were present Dr. Aditi Khajuria, Dr. Snobar, Prof. Brham Dutt, Dr. Shivali Choudhary, Ms. Priya Sharma, Dr. Imtiyaz Ahmed, Dr. Paramjeet Kour, Dr. Ekta Rani, Mr. Fayaz Ahmed, Ms. Sonali Dutta, Mr. Anil Sharma, Mr. Ram Murti, and Ms. Baby Sharma.
