DDC Chairman inaugurates one day Tilhan Mela at Reasi

 REASI, DECEMBER 23:  District Development Council Chairman Reasi, Saraf Singh Nag today inaugurated one day Tilhan Mela here in the Auditorium of DC office Complex. Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Vishesh Paul Mahajan and Chief Agriculture officer Reasi, Harbans Singh were also present.

The Mela is being organised by the Department of Agriculture Reasi to commemorate the Kisan Diwas celebrations under Promotion of Oil Seeds Production (HADP).

The DDC Chairman congratulated the farmers on the occasion and lauded the role of Anadatta in ensuring food security for humanity. He highlighted the game-changer role of different centrally sponsored schemes and HADP in uplifting the financial status of the farming community.

DDC Chairperson Saraf Singh Nag along with District Development Commissioner Vishesh Mahajan, conducted a comprehensive inspection of the diverse array of agriculture stalls. During the thorough inspection, they meticulously evaluated  the various agricultural stalls . Focal point of inspection was engagement with the farmers and their hard work that underscored the significance of such gatherings in promoting agricultural innovation, knowledge exchange, and market accessibility.

CAO Reasi apprised the gathering regarding overall status of agriculture activities in Reasi District in respect of targets and achievements under different schemes. He said that the purpose of organising the Tilhan Mela is to motivate the farmers to go for area expansion under oil seeds with the aim of increasing farmers income through increased production and further processing, marketing etc.

Technical session was conducted by experts from the department  covering all aspects of scientific cultivation of oil seed crops. Awareness regarding KCC, PMFBY, Soil Health Cards, HADP and other Centrally Sponsored Schemes was also imparted to the farmers on the occasion.

Keys of tractor, brush cutter and sanction letters to mushroom growers were also handed over.

Large number of farmers besides staff of the agriculture department were present on the occasion.
