Samba Police cracks blind firing case, arrests three with weapon of offence
In a swift and decisive action, the Samba police have successfully solved a blind firing case that occurred in Behri Samba on December 24, 2023. The police have arrested three accused and seized the weapon of offence, a 12 bore rifle along with an empty cartridge.
On the evening of December 24, a young man named Balwan Singh, son of Ram Ditta, was fired upon by unknown persons while working in his fields in Behri village. The attack left him with serious injuries to his leg and foot, and he is currently undergoing treatment in Chandigarh.
Following the incident, the Samba police registered an FIR under sections 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 3/25 of the Arms Act at Police Station Samba. They immediately launched a thorough investigation into the case.

The police team was able to identify and apprehend three suspects within a short period. The arrested individuals have been identified as Sukhdev Singh, Ashok Kumar, and Romesh Chander, all residents of Samba district.
During investigation, the police also recovered the weapon used in the crime, a 12 bore rifle, along with an empty cartridge. This crucial piece of evidence strengthens the case against the accused.
Senior Superintendent of Police Samba, Benam Tosh, commended the efforts of his team in cracking the blind firing case. He assured the public that no case will remain unsolved in Samba district and that all those involved in criminal activities will be brought to justice.
