District level event held at Sartingal to promote Floriculture
DODA, DECEMBER 29: The Department of Floriculture, Parks, and Gardens orchestrated a District Level Event, Kissan Mela, and Conference under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme MIDH at Sartingal Bhaderwah, District Doda.
The event, inaugurated by the District Development Council Chairman, Dhananter Singh Kotwal and Vice Chairperson District Development Council, Sangeeta Bhagat, garnered enthusiastic participation from the farming community.
The conference, aimed at fostering Commercial Floriculture activities and enhancing farmer welfare, drew attention from notable dignitaries. Director General Floriculture, Parks & Gardens Jammu, S. Jatinder Singh, graced the occasion as the special guest. The gathering provided farmers a platform to engage with key stakeholders, exchange ideas, and stay abreast of the latest developments in Floriculture.
Pawan Kumar, Assistant Floriculture Officer, Doda, elucidated the implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes in the District, emphasizing the Department’s role in providing technical know-how, latest technology, and financial assistance under CSS. Joint Director, Floriculture, Parks & Gardens Jammu Vikrant Sharma reassured farmers of comprehensive support from the Department, outlining ongoing activities.
The District Development Council Chairman advocated for creating mass awareness about government welfare initiatives and handholding measures for the farming community. He urged farmers to embrace the latest technology, high-yielding varieties, and scientific management for improved earnings.
The Vice Chairperson stressed expanding the cultivation of Marigold, Lavender, and other cut flowers, emphasizing market linkages for enhanced returns. Additionally, she encouraged women farmers to adopt commercial Floriculture for social upliftment. The Director General expressed gratitude, pledging technical and financial assistance to farmers, concluding a successful and impactful event.
Sarpanches and participants from various Panchayats applauded the Floriculture Department’s efforts, urging the organization of more such camps/events in the future.
