8083 new voters added during recent SSR
DODA, DECEMBER 30: To ensure every eligible voter cast his vote and strengthen democratic essence of the country, the Electoral Commission of India has recently started the revision of electoral rolls with the objective of preparing error-free photo electoral rolls with a special focus on inclusion of new eligible voters, who are going to attain the age of 18 years on 1st of January 2024.
Special Summary Revision (SSR) of Photo Electoral Rolls was started from 27th of October 2023, and final draft after disposal of all objections shall be published on 5th of January 2024.
Commissioner Secretary, Cooperative Department, ARI and Trainings, Yasha Mudgal, who is also designated Roll Observer of Electoral Roll for Doda, today reviewed the progress on Special Summary Revision (SSR) in the district.
She had exhaustive interaction with EROs, AEROs, BLOs, and other stakeholders regarding progress on the Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Roll in the district.
It was informed that 8083 new eligible voters have been added to the district during the SSR, beating the target of 7568. She was further informed that there are three Assembly Constituencies in Doda, viz 51- Bhaderwah, 52- Doda, and 53-Doda West, with 529 polling stations at 513 locations, 22 zones and 109 sectors. The registered voters in the district, as of date, after recent addition, are 309795. Besides, there is 63.57 percent electoral population in the district.
During her meeting with EROs, AEROs and BLOs, Commissioner Secretary stressed on inclusion of sent percent population in the age group of 18 to 19 in the electoral roll as the present percentage stands at 96% in the district.
She also assessed the availability of Assured Minimum Facilities (AMFs) for the voters in the polling stations, besides reviewing status of EP ratio, service voters, PwD voters, SVEEP activities, and other related issues.
