DC reviews augmentation of drinking water supply in Udhampur Town under AMRUT-2

UDHAMPUR, JANUARY 2: In response to the directives from the Lieutenant Governor of J&K during the recent Viksit Sankalp Yatra program on addressing the issues related to the augmentation of drinking water supply and strengthening water distribution system under AMRUT-2 in the Urban Area of Udhampur District viz Udhampur, Ramnagar and Chenani town, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Saloni Rai led a meeting with officers from various departments.

 S.L. Kapoor, Team Leader of PDMC, provided a comprehensive Power Point presentation on the implementation of the Amrut-2 project, highlighting that the water supply level in the urban area is set @ 135 litres per Capita per day.

During the meeting, the DC urged officers to prepare a detailed proposal under the Amrut Project to alleviate the scarcity of drinking water supply in urban areas. Emphasizing a swift and timely completion, she instructed the concerned authorities to expedite the process.

Discussing water supply scheme augmentation in Udhampur town, the DC instructed the department to fortify the existing Water Supply Distribution system and infrastructure by addressing wastage and leakages. Additionally, she emphasized the need to augment the supply by completing ongoing projects and water supply schemes to overcome the shortfall of drinking water in the urban area.
