District level awareness camp held for Sheep & Goat breeders at Samba
SAMBA, JANUARY 03: Sheep Husbandry Department Jammu today organized “One Day District Level Awareness Camp” in the Conference Hall of DC office Samba. District Development Commissioner, Samba Abhishek Sharma, was the chief guest. More than two hundred breeders participated in the awareness camp.
The District Development Commissioner interacted with Sheep & Goat breeders of the area and informed the public and PRIs regarding the schemes launched by the Department for the welfare of the people. He exhorted upon the people to come forward to avail the benefits of the Employment Generating Schemes of the department launched by the Government. He stressed upon the breeders to constitute FPOs, avail Livestock insurance under NLM, HADP, Kissan Credit Card (KCC) and implementation of various schemes to double the farmer’s income.
Various problems put forth by the breeders were redressed on the spot by the District Development Commissioner after a patient hearing. He assured them that other issues will be redressed as per laid down norms in a time bound manner.
Dr. Tara Chand I/c Joint Director (Ext.) / DSHO Samba interacted with the breeders advising them to use modern techniques such as Artificial Insemination, synchronization of estrus, embryo transfer and machine shearing besides value addition of the products to raise their income.
Shalesh Sharma DDM NABARD spoke in detail about the creation of FPOs and gainful activities.
Avtar Singh, DDC Purmandal, Raj BDC Nud, Anil Kumar Sharma Sarpanch Purmandal and progressive breeders including Mohammad Iqbal, Mohammad Basharat, Haji Mohammad Fareed, Mohammad Lateef, Choudhary Mohammad Mukthar and Mohammad Shafi also attended the function and shared their experiences.
Dr. Rahul Dev, CHO Samba, Dr. Amitha Baddamwar, (Parasitologist), Dr. Nitin Dubey (FTO Kartholi), Dr. Komal Bharti, Dr. Manoj Kumar, Dr. Abhinav Thappa, Dr. Parveen Kumar, Dr. J.P Sumbria, Asheesh Sharma, Publicity Officer Sheep Husbandry Department Jammu and Resource persons from Agriculture and Allied departments, besides officers, officials of the Department and the PRIs also attended the function.
