Director Agriculture reviews progress on establishment of Medicinal & Aromatic Plants farm at Verinag

SRINAGAR, JANUARY 03: The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal today visited Verinag and reviewed the progress on the work of establishing a Medicinal and Aromatic plants farm, there.

Addressing officers, Director Agriculture said that quality/ quantity of the work should be maintained during the execution of different works. He highlighted the importance of coordination among different executing agencies for the successful completion of the work.

Iqbal reiterated the department’s commitment to promote the cultivation of aromatic and medicinal plants across the Kashmir division. He said that owing to the diverse agro-climatic condition of the region there is a huge scope for aromatic and medicinal plants.

Director Agriculture said that under HADP special attention has been paid/ approved for the development of aromatic and medicinal plants. He said that Kashmir being one of the best tourist destinations in the country has immense opportunities for aromatic and medicinal plants.

Later, Director Agriculture visited a progressive farm at Dialgam Anantnag where a hi-tech polyhouse has been established.

Chief Agriculture Officer Anantnag and other senior district officers were also present on the occasion.
