DLSA Samba hosts Legal Awareness Program at Village Chamilyal

SAMBA, JANUARY 12: Under able aegis of J&K Legal services authority and also under the insightful directions of Yesh Pal Kotwal, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority Samba, DLSA Samba organized a Legal Awareness Program for the rural masses of village Chamilyal, in the Ramgarh Sector near revered Baba Chamliyal Shrine situated on the International Border.  The subject of the programme was Free Legal Aid Services and Eligibility; Alternative Dispute Resolution(ADR): Mediation, Pre-Institution Mediation & Settlement, Arbitration and other non-Litigious methods; Objectives of Lok Adalats.

This program was presided over by Yesh Pal Kotwal, Chairman DLSA Samba. In his special address, the Chairman DLSA highlighted the importance of Right to Free Legal Aid provided under Act 39-A of the Indian Constitution. He also talked about the historical background of the Legal Services Authority Act, 1987 as well as the importance of legal awareness programs to help the marginalised sections of the society. He also spoke as to how the technique of Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) could be a helpful mechanism in resolving the conflict in a peaceful manner where the outcome is accepted by both the parties and  also the various modes of Alternate Dispute Resolution. Panel Advocate, Hitesh Sharma also explained in detail what are legal services and how free and competent legal services can be provided to the needy and poor masses of the country in accordance with NALSA Regulations as well as under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987.

This Program witnessed the presence of Chairman Baba Chamliyal Shrine, Naib Tehsildar Ramgarh, Ex-Panchsand sarpanches of Ramgarh as well as a large number of the rural people who are living in the border areas of Tehsil Ramgarh. A plantation drive was also organized by District Legal Services Authority Samba wherein the Chief guest planted trees in the premises of Baba Chamliyal Shrine.

Beside this, District Legal Services Authority Samba also observed National Youth Day 2024 at Bhargwa Degree College Samba wherein the officers of LADCs Samba educated the young students about their legal rights and responsibilities and how youth can be empowered through legal knowledge by their roles in society .

In addition to this, Cleanliness drive was also organized by District Legal Services Authority Samba in collaboration with Municipality Samba at different places of district Samba, so as to encourage the youth to participate in the community service.
