Month long National Road Safety campaign commences in Kishtwar amid Grand Inaugural Event
DC, SSP ask transporters, Public to adhere to Road Safety rules
KISHTWAR, January15: The National Road Safety Month 2024 kicked off in Kishtwar district today with a spectacular inaugural ceremony held at the General Bus Stand.
Marking a crucial initiative to enhance road safety awareness in the district, the campaign was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Devansh Yadav, who is also the Chairman of the District Road Safety Committee, as the Chief Guest. He emphasized the significance of promoting safe practices on the roads.
SSP, Khalil Ahmed Poswal was the guest of honour at the event attended by approximately 350 participants, including transporters, citizens, students and youth.
The Road Safety campaign has been organized by the District Motor Vehicles department in collaboration with Government Degree College, Government Boys Higher Secondary School and the local Transport Union. The month-long activities will span from January 15, 2024, to February 14, 2024.
The event commenced with a warm welcome address and the administration of the pledge by ARTO Mohammad Saleem Manhas in alignment with the National Road Safety Month.
The highlight of the program was a demonstration on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) conducted by the Red Cross and SDRF team.
Numerous activities unfolded during the event, including a Nukkad Natak presented by Students of GHSS Boys Kishtwar and a Debate by GDC students in spirit with the Road Safety Protocol.
DC, SSP, ARTO and President Transport Union B.L Shan threw light on road safety issues and emphasized safety precautions.
DC stressed upon the transporters to install CC cameras, VLTD, and Speed limit Devices in vehicles on priority.
Addressing the gathering,he said that the initiative like installation of safety equipment, Road Safety Audits, proper crash barriers in vulnerable areas, and adherence to Speed Limit and road safety measures are instrumental to save lives of people.
He further urged individuals to embrace their responsibility as conscientious citizens, contributing to the collective effort for a safer journey on our roads.
The program concluded with an impressive Road Safety Awareness Rally led by students and NCC Cadets under the guidance of DC Kishtwar, Dy SP DAR Sajjad Khan, ARTO, EO Municipal Council Ninad Sen, all carrying placards and banners echoing road safety awareness from Bus Stand to Dak Bunglow through Market Kishtwar.
