DC launches month-long National Road Safety Awareness Campaign with Car Rally at B’la

BARAMULLA, JANUARY 15: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa in presence of Senior Superintendent of Police Amod Ashok Nagapure today inaugurated the National Road Safety Awareness campaign-2024 with the flag-off of a car rally from Dakbanglow Baramulla.

Speaking at the event, DC, who also chairs the District Road Safety Committee (DRSC), underscored the crucial need for strict adherence to traffic rules. He urged the public to prioritize safe driving and emphasized precautionary measures such as wearing helmets, seat belts, and adhering to speed limits for the safety of all road users.

The car rally traversed through the main market of Baramulla, featuring displays of Road Safety messages to enhance awareness among the general public.

Minga Sherpa highlighted plans for aggressive awareness campaigns throughout the month, focusing on educating drivers and pedestrians about necessary precautions. Recognizing the alarming rate of road traffic accidents and associated fatalities in the country, he stressed the importance of collective efforts to minimize such incidents.

The district administration is actively involved in mapping vulnerable spots, monitoring overloading on crowded routes, and informing the public about potential blind curves. Immediate measures are being implemented in these areas to prevent accidents.

During the event, SSP Amod Ashok Nagapure emphasized the importance of people adhering to traffic rules for their safety. He specifically urged the youth to avoid rush driving, underscoring the need for responsible behavior on the roads. The SSP’s message aimed to promote a culture of compliance with traffic regulations and foster safer driving habits, especially among the younger demographic.

Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Muzzam Ali, expressed gratitude to the participants and guests, urging all stakeholders to comply with traffic rules for the sake of safety.

The month-long Road Safety Awareness campaign aims to create a safer road environment and reduce the number of accidents in Baramulla District.
