National Road Safety Month kick-starts in Kulgam

DC flags-off fleet of vehicles for awareness

KULGAM, JANUARY 15: With an aim to create awareness about road safety and reduce road accidents, a month-long awareness drive themed ‘Sadak Surakhsha Jeevan Raksha’ was today launched at Kulgam.

This month-long drive was kick-started by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan by flagging-off a bike and auto rally from the mini-secretariat and the function was organised by the Motor Vehicles Department Kulgam.

These bikes and vehicles passed through the market to generate awareness about traffic rules.

It was informed that the aim of observance of Road Safety Month is on adherence to traffic laws and regulations in letter and spirit to avoid accidents thereby saving lives and resources.

Addressing the occasion, DC said that enforcement of traffic regulations and awareness regarding road safety measures is a prerequisite for preventing fatal road accidents

Cooperation of all stakeholders for imbibing the good driving and traffic practices was sought, stressing that it is the moral responsibility of everyone, to spread Road Safety Practices among the masses for desired results.

Present on the occasion were ARTO, Abrar Ahmad Kripak and other officers, besides members of the transport association and drivers.
