Labour Commissioner interacts with representatives of Trade Unions
Reiterates Govt’s commitment for welfare of Labour class
JAMMU, JANUARY 18: Labour Commissioner J&K, S. Charandeep Singh Thursday chaired an interactive meeting with the representatives of Trade Unions here to discuss issues related to workers’ overall socioeconomic well-being.
The representatives of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh Jammu, Centre of Indian Trade Union, Jammu, ASCOMS Employees Welfare Association, Jammu (J&K), Indian National Trade Union Congress and Jammu Marble Workers Union participated in the interaction.
Deputy Labour Commissioner, Jammu, Deputy Labour Commissioner (Central), J&K, Deputy Director (Planning) and Assistant Labour Commissioners were also present.
The Trade Union representatives, while welcoming S Charandeep Singh on assuming charge of Labour Commissioner J&K, assured their support in raising awareness among the workers regarding the Government schemes being implemented for their welfare in the UT. They gave a brief about their working and union constitutional mandate.
Detailed deliberations were held on issues of common interest with Labour Commissioner J&K reiterating that welfare of labour and improving their living standard shall remain the primary focus of cooperation between the Department and the Trade Unions.
“Trade Unions play a crucial role in advancing the interests of workers and allowing amicable solutions of issues between establishments and workers,” the Labour Commissioner said and added that unions are a good source of information on work place practices and non-compliance of labour laws.
Charandeep Singh sought cooperation of the trade unions in ensuring that benefits of labour welfare schemes of the Government reach to the workers of both the organized and unorganized sectors and effective implementation of labour laws.
