J&K Police salutes its heroes: DGP sanctions ₹26 lakh welfare relief for retired personnel & families of martyrs
In a gesture of appreciation and support, the Jammu & Kashmir Police has sanctioned welfare relief amounting to approximately Rs 26 lakh for 56 retired police personnel and 31 families of martyred police personnel/SPOs. This initiative, spearheaded by Director General of Police J&K R R Swain, aims to alleviate financial burdens and offer a helping hand to those who have dedicated their lives to serving the community.
As per the issued orders from the Police headquarters, an amount of Rs 10.65 lakh has been sanctioned for 35 retired J&K Police personnel to cover their medical expenses or those of their dependents. Additionally, Rs. 2.20 lakh has been allocated to aid seven retired police officials facing financial distress. Another segment of the fund, amounting to Rs 3.15 lakh, has been set aside for 14 retired police personnel to support the marriage expenses of their sons and daughters.
In a separate order, the DGP has granted around Rs 10 lakh for the benefit of 31 Next of Kin (NoK) of martyred Police personnel and SPOs, aiming to alleviate their financial burdens during challenging times.
It’s crucial to note that this welfare relief is non-refundable, highlighting the J&K Police’s genuine intent to provide long-term support and not merely temporary aid. The funds are allocated from dedicated sources – the J&K Police Pariwar Fund for SPOs and the Retired Policemen Welfare Fund for retired officials.
