FDP Starts in Information and Communication Technology at Central University of Jammu

JAMMU, January 23: The UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) at Central University of Jammu under the inspiring direction of Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain, commenced an extensive Faculty Development Program (FDP) from 23rd Jan  to 31st Jan 2024 on the theme “Information and Communication Technology” (ICT).

The FDP is in line with the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and is intended to provide knowledge and hands-on ICT tools, and techniques and also will deliberate on contemporary trends in the field of ICT in the modern education system.

During the inaugural event, Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, an eminent Professor in Computer Science stressed the importance of ICT in the contemporary education system. Under his guidance and supervision, the university has been reenergized and revamped in various fronts in ICT.

Dr. Neelika Arora, Director of UGC-MMTTC, Central University of Jammu, informed that this FDP program includes 149 faculty members from various educational institutions across India.

The inaugural session was conducted by Dr. Pradeep Kumar Singh (Co-ordinator) and Dr. Bhavna Arora (Co-coordinator). The first day of the workshop witnessed very informative sessions conducted by the experts Dr. Pradeep Tomar and Dr.Yashwant Singh, Registrar and Head Department of Computer Science and IT. The talks were very informative and focused on various ICT trends related to NEP 2020.

While presenting a formal vote of thanks, Dr. Akshay Kumar informed that eminent experts from different universities nation-wide will contribute their knowledge and conduct various informative sessions throughout the FDP.

Dr. Neelika Arora, Director of UGC-MMTTC at the university, leads the initiative alongside Dr. Akshay Kumar, the Deputy Director. Dr. Pradeep Kumar Singh, Program Coordinator, and Dr. Bhavna Arora, Program Co-Coordinator, have been instrumental in shaping the program’s structure and content.

The event included the gracious presence of the Dean of Students Welfare, Prof. Ritu Bakshi, Dean School of Physics and applied Sciences Prof. Vinay Kumar, Head Department Education Prof. Asit Kumar Manrty, Head Department of Mass Communication and New Media Dr. Abhay SD Rajput and others.

The FDP is a significant step towards realizing the objectives of NEP 2020, which emphasizes the incorporation of Information and Communication Technologies with special focus on NEP 2020.
