GCW Udhampur organises awareness rally on ‘Be a Road Safety Hero’

UDHAMPUR FEBRUARY 07: To spread the awareness among the students and general masses regarding road safety, an awareness rally on the theme “Be a Road Safety Hero” was organized by Road Safety Club and NSS Unit of Government College for Women (GCW) Udhampur .  

The rally was flagged off by Principal of the College, Prof. Anjali Mahajan.   

Principal highlighted the need of organising such events in the college to aware the students and public in general. She also stressed upon the fact that it has become the need of the hour to aware the public about the causes of accident happening on the road.

The message of rally was conveyed with the help of placards, posters and through recitation of slogans by the 180 students and volunteers besides urging the people to follow traffic rules to avoid mishappenings on the road.

The standout feature of the event was the interaction between the volunteers and general public in the bazaar. Volunteers shared insights about the role of awareness about the road safety rules in saving the lives of the people. Following the rally, students of the college also played a Nukad Natak to aware the public about the road safety habits.

The route of rally was Government College for Women Udhampur-KDN Palace, Battal Ballian Road- Vikas Nagar- Jojhada Talab Road – Radha Swami Satsang Road- Phangyal Chowk  and culminated back at the college. The rally was escorted by Prof. Parwinder Kaur, Convener Road Safety Club, Dr. Ajay Kumar Sharma, NSS PO, Prof. Shama Rani, NSS PO,Prof. Pooja Bharti, Prof. Yash Kumar and Kulldeep Singh.

Earlier, Prof. Parwinder Kaur, Convener Road Safety Club and Dr. Ajay Kumar Sharma, NSS PO elaborated that Road Safety has become the priority after the invention of mass-produced vehicles as road accidents can cause serious injuries and even death.

The rally was meticulously supervised and managed by Prof. Parwinder Kaur, Convener Road Safety Club, Dr.Ajay NSS PO.Prof. Shama Rani, NSS PO, Prof. Yash Kumar and Prof. Pooja Bharti. Other faculty members present on the occasion were Dr. Ravinder Kumar and Prof. Pardeep Kumar.
