SVEEP Programme spreads Electoral Awareness among students in Basohli
KATHUA, FEBRUARY 14: Government Model Higher Secondary School Basohli hosted a SVEEP programme today to enhance awareness about electoral processes among the students.
The event, held within the school premises, was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner Basohli, Anil Kumar Thakur as the chief guest.
Alongside him, Naib Tehsildar Jagdish Singh, staff members of the higher secondary school and enthusiastic students added fervor to the occasion.
Students showcased their talent through cultural presentations that delved into the intricacies of electoral procedures.
The cultural performances served not only as a means of expression but also as a platform for students to deepen their understanding of democratic principles.
Highlights of the event were the insightful speeches delivered by Priya Devi, Gungun, and Pallavi Pathania, students of 11th and 12th classes respectively. Their articulate discourse on electoral processes reflected a keen awareness of civic responsibilities and the significance of participation in democratic processes.
Speaking at the event, ADC Basohli Anil Kumar Thakur, applauded the students for their proactive engagement with electoral issues. He encouraged them to take an active role in the electoral process, stressing the importance of registering to vote and staying informed about electoral modifications through platforms like NVSP. He expressed optimism that Basohli would set new records in voter turnout in the upcoming elections. He reaffirmed the commitment of Basohli administration, under the guidance of the District Election Officer, to intensify SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) activities, ensuring inclusivity in the electoral process.
Principal Lalit Kumar Sharma extended his gratitude to the chief guest, for his gracious presence and support. In his address, Principal Sharma commended the students for their insightful reflections on the electoral system, emphasizing the importance of informed citizenship. He urged the students to become ambassadors for civic engagement, spreading the message of responsible citizenship within their communities.
Earlier Voters pledge was also administered to all the participants to affirm the resolve for active participation in the democratic process.
