Central University of Jammu Students visited NABARD Headquarters for Insightful Outreach Program

JAMMU, 16 February 2024: Department of Economics at Central University of Jammu post graduate students had the privilege of visiting the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) Jammu & Kashmir Regional Office, Jammu.

The highlight of the programme was an enlightening address by Sh.  Bhallamudi Sridhar, NABARD Chief General Manager, who shared valuable insights into the organization’s mission, vision, and ongoing initiatives. His words resonated deeply with the students, offering them a first-hand glimpse into the challenges and opportunities in the realm of rural development.

Moreover, an engaging presentation by Ms. Anamika, General Manager at NABARD, provided an in-depth overview of NABARD’s genesis, organizational structure, as well as its multifaceted roles and functions. Her presentation shed light on NABARD’s pivotal role in promoting sustainable agriculture, rural infrastructure, and inclusive financial services across the country. Following the presentations, an interactive question and answer session ensued, allowing the students to delve deeper into the intricacies of NABARD’s initiatives. Sh. Bhallamudi Sridhar, expressed his delight at the keen interest displayed by the students and emphasized the importance of youth participation in shaping the future of rural economy.Students gained valuable insights and engaged in meaningful discussions with NABARD’s esteemed leadership team. 

The outreach programme not only provided students with a unique learning opportunity but also strengthened the bond between academia and industry, promoting collaboration and knowledge exchange. Such support was visible because of patronage by Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu and support by Shri Bhallamudi Sridhar, CGM NABARD.

The event was impeccably coordinated by Sh. Sohan Lal, Assistant General Manager, whose meticulous planning ensured a seamless and enriching experience for all participants. Dr. Shaveta Kohli, Associate Professor and Mr. Anil Kumar Bharti, Assistant Professor led the team and introduced the scope of the visit besides thanking NABARD for agreeing to such an educative visit at the conclusion of the trip.
