CUJ Book Club Launches Inaugural Session with  Bureaucrats Turned Authors

Jammu, 22 Feb 2024: Under the progressive leadership of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain, the Central University of Jammu has been organising student centric activities through various clubs.

Pageturners, CUJ Book Club today celebrated its inaugural session with esteemed authors Mr. Shailendra Singh, SSP Railways Jammu and Mr. Pramod Jain, IAS (Retd.).

The event was also attended by Dean Students’ Welfare, Prof. Ritu Bakshi, Dean School of Languages, Prof. Vandana Sharma, Associate Dean Students’ Welfare, Dr. Vinay Kumar, Ms. Shafla Parihar, Deputy Registrar, Astt. Librarian, Mr. Romesh Chander and Convener, Book Club, Dr. Neena Gupta Vij.

Mr Pramod Jain, IAS (Retd.), presented “Lockdown and Other Poems”, a collection of poems he has written. Mr Shailendra Singh, SSP Railways Jammu, offered a poetic reflection on the human experience of poverty, suffering, deprivation and discrimination during challenging times, through readings from his novel. Imraan Reyaz, a student of 2nd semester, M.A. English at CUJ also read selections from his book of poetry, Quilt of emotions.

The event, attended by avid readers, members of the book club and local dignitaries, featured engaging discussions and book readings. Pageturners Book Club aims to be a literary hub, encouraging a vibrant community of readers through regular sessions, book launches, and author interactions.

The event was organised by the Book Club, entirely planned and executed by student volunteers from engineering and humanities: Riya, Rai, Parvez, Amritansh, Sanjana, Rahul, Hitashi, Monika and Shreya.
