Reasi police seize three chemist shops for illegal H1 drug sales

In a major crackdown on illegal drug sales, the Reasi Police, along with a drug inspector, seized three chemist shops in the Talwara and Seela areas on Wednesday during a surprise inspection under Operation Jeevandhaan.

These shops were found to be selling H1 drugs, which require a doctor’s prescription, without proper documentation and in violation of regulations.

The seized shops include Ajay Medicos, Navh Medical Hall, and Satya Medical Hall. The owners, Ajay Singh, Munna Abrol, and Sahaj Kumar, respectively, were unable to produce records of H1 drug sales and lacked mandatory CCTV cameras in their shops. Consequently, all three shops were shut down under Section 22D of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act of 1940.

The operation, led by SHO Reasi under the supervision of Dy.SP Neeraj Padyar, targeted shops suspected of violating drug regulations.

Senior Superintendent of Police Reasi, Mohita Sharma, IPS, commended the operation and emphasized the multipronged approach taken by Reasi Police to combat drug abuse. She assured the public that “no stone will be left unturned” to eradicate this menace from society.

Additionally, medical sale establishments in the area were inspected regarding the sale of medicines with addiction liability. Chemists were urged to maintain proper records of all Schedule H1 medicines as per prescribed norms and to remain vigilant regarding any suspicious activity.
