Education Deptt organizes mega Rally of ULLAS volunteers at Baramulla

Aims to promote basic education for non-literate volunteers

BARAMULLA, FEBRUARY 23: In a significant step towards promoting literacy and education among non-literate adults who didn’t get a chance to go to school, Additional District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Syed Qamar Sajad today flagged-off a mega rally of volunteers of Understanding of Lifelong Learning for All in Society (ULLAS) from DC office complex, here.

The rally was organised by Education Department Baramulla and was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Raina; Chief Planning Officer, Javaid Ahmad; Chief Education Officer Baramulla, Balbir Singh Raina; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Arshid Ahmad Khan; Deputy Superintendent of Police, volunteers from ULLAS, teachers and others.

During the flagging-off ceremony, the ADDC, ADC, and other officers and employees from the Deputy Commissioner’s office eagerly volunteered for the program, bolstering the already enthusiastic team dedicated to advancing education to non-literate individuals of the society.

Speaking during the event, the ADDC praised the volunteers for their dedication to providing basic education to non-literate individuals, affirming the district administration’s unwavering support in their journey towards success.

The CEO highlighted that the primary objective of Nav Bharat Saksharta Karyakram (ULLAS) is to empower all adults aged 15 years and above, who have not had the opportunity to educate themselves, allowing the learners to acquire reading, writing and numeracy skills.

Raina provided detailed insights into ULLAS’s significant reach in the district, emphasizing its extensive impact with a total of 3032 registered volunteers actively engaged in educating non-literate individuals across 601 registered centers across the district.
