Kavinder Gupta, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister has said that Guru Ravidas Jayanti is a reminder to celebrate human rights, love for one another and practice equality.
He expressed this in his address during a programme organized in connection with the celebration of Shri Guru Ravi Dass Jayanti by Ravidas Vichar Samiti at Chhani here today. A large number of devotees were present at the celebration venue on the occasion.
The senior BJP leader said that the teachings of the great saint are as relevant today as these were during the life times of the great saint. Paying rich tributes to great saint and social reformer Kavinder Gupta said that the best way of celebrating the occasion is to take a pledge to follow his teachings in letter and spirit and work for building a society based on the natural principles of social justice, equality, compassion, love and togetherness. He said the teachings of Guruji have inspired the generations and helped in transforming the society, making it conducive for various communities, irrespective of caste, creed, colour, region or religion.
Kavinder Gupta called for strengthening the bonds of amity and working towards achieving the objective of social empowerment of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that teachings of Guru Ravi Dass are in consonance with the present day concept of humanitarianism which form part and parcel of the BJP ideology. Asserting that Guru Ji’s teachings are ever relevant he asked the people to follow the same in true letter and spirit adding that this would be the best tribute to the great saint.
Prominent among others present and speaking on the occasion were Vibodh Gupta General Secretary BJP, Rekha Gupta District President BJP South, Vinay Gupta, and Neena Gupta Ex Corporator Ward No: 50.
Meanwhile, Kavinder Gupta also visited Dev Sthan of Salaria Saini Biradari Suhagpur near Arnia and paid rich tributes to Shaheed Data Sher Singh Sakaria Ji.
