DM Udhampur orders closure of 2 Marriage Halls, Resort for violation of Pollution Control norms
UDHAMPUR, FEBRUARY 28: District Magistrate Udhampur, Saloni Rai, has ordered the closure of two marriage halls and one resort for violation of pollution control norms.
In accordance with directives from the J&K Pollution Control Board and with approval of the competent authority, the DM invoked Section 33(A) of the Water Prevention and Control of Pollution Act, 1974, and Section 31(A) of the Air Prevention and Control of Pollution Act, 1981, along with Section 5 of the Environment Protection Act, 1986, against Raghunath Palace, Thappa Palace, and Bharat Resort within Udhampur District.
A team of officials, comprising representatives from Revenue, Police, and PCB, led by Tehsildar Udhampur, Jai Singh, enforced the closure of the identified establishments.
The joint team not only facilitated the shutdown of the mentioned establishments but also guided the owners, urging strict adherence to the guidelines of the PCB. This action aims to ensure compliance to environment conservation and abatement of pollution in the district.
