National Science Day on ‘Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat’ celebrated at CUJ
Jammu, 28 Feb 2024: Central University of Jammu (CUJ) in collaboration with Indian National Young Academy of Science (INYAS) celebrates National Science Day with theme ‘Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat’ on February 27- 28, 2024 in Brig. Rajinder Singh Auditorium.
National science Day is celebrated annually on 28th of February to acknowledge the legacy of Sir C.V. Raman for their significant milestone in the annals of science and technology. Our esteemed guests for today’s event are Dr. S.K. Vasudeva, Principal Scientific Adviser Fellow, Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser, Govt. of India and Prof. C. Raman Suri, Ex- chief Scientist at Institute of Microbial Technology (IMTech Chandigarh) and Professor at IIT Ropar.
Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice- Chancellor, Central University Jammu was Patron of the event while Prof. Deepak Pathania, Dean Research Studies,CUJ was coordinator of the event. The event started with lighting of lamp followed by the welcome address of Prof. Deepak Pathania, Dean Research Studies,CUJ. The Keynote address of the event was delivered by Dr. S. K. Vasudev, Principal Scientific Adviser Fellow, Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser, Govt. of India on indigenous technologies for Viksit Bharat. He mentioned the five pillars of Atmanirbhar Bharat: Economy, Infrastructure, Technology driven system, Vibrant demography, and Demand. Key Focus area of the lecture including education, health area, technology, infrastructure, agriculture, environment. He also mentioned Agriculture revolutions in India i.e. from green revolution,1969 to self-sufficient food in today’s time. Other subtopics were the purple revolution of Jammu, Covaxinas indigenous vaccine, Bio economy, Nuclear power, indigenous missile: TEJAS and aircraft: INS VIKRANT. Nuclear power plants under operation in India are 22 in number and by 2032 and India itself will produce 30 gigawatts of energy. The National Green Hydrogen mission has expected outcomes by 2030. The Presidential remarks were given by Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor, CUJ. He highlighted the University achievements, where university faculty members got Approximately 32.00 Cr. Extramural grant from different national agencies. He highlighted that university faculty members published quality research papers as they achieved high impact factor papers in International Journals and filed patents at National & International. He stresses on Industry- Academic linkage for quality research in line to achieve Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat.
Afterward, Guest of Honor Prof. C. Raman Suri., Ex- Chief Scientist, CSIR-Imtech, & Visiting Professor, IIT Ropar who was the guest of honor delivered a talk on possibilities of Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat. He mentioned the importance of How? And Why? in the field of science. He mentioned the history of scientific discoveries and the development in India dates back to Vedic era and Great ancient discoveries: Ayurveda, cataract surgery, decimal mark and zero, Binary code, Flush toilets. He mentioned the Indian Ancient discoveries by Aryabhata, Bhaskaracarya, Nagarjuna to today’s discoveries by S. N. Bose, Vikaram Sarabai, Har Gobind khurana, Ramachandran, the father of Indian missile technology: APJ Abdulkalam and M. S. Swaminathan. He mentioned that in the next two decades, India is likely to become an economically prosperous nation. Afterward, winners were announced who participated in Oral, poster, model and Hackathon events on Indigenous technologies for Viksit Bharat. At last, winners of various events that were organised to celebrate National Science Day were announced. The winners for Hackathon are: Tanisha Gupta (Mathematics) First Prize, Jagriti Gupta (Educational Studies) Second Prize and Shreya (ECE) got third prize. In Oral Presentation: Sourav Sharma (Physics and Astronomical Sciences) First Prize, Priyanka Bali (Nano science and material) Second Prize and Harshita Sharma (Botany) got third prize. In Poster Presentation First Prize got by Prince Kumar (Physics and Astronomical sciences), Second Prize Amritansh Bharti (ECE) and Third Prize Qurat- ul-ain (Botany).
The event ended with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Sunil Dhar, Head Department of Environmental Sciences followed by the National Anthem. The Dean Research office conveys the special thanks to all faculty members &Indian National Young Academy of Science (INYAS) for all support.
