DC Kishtwar chairs District Level NCORD Committee meeting
Asks stakeholders to intensify drug control measures
KISHTWAR, MARCH 02: The district Level NCORD Committee meeting was today held here under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav.
The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police Abdul Qayoom-, PO-ICDS, Dr. Rishi Sharma, ACR Idrees Ahmed Lone, ACD Phulail Singh, DSWO Tariq Parvez Qazi, State Taxes Officer, CMO , CEO , Nodal Officer ATF and other members.
The meeting brought together the committee members to discuss comprehensive strategy and take periodical review of the implementation of drug control measures in the District.
At the outset, the DC took a detailed appraisal from the members of NCORD Committee regarding the scenario of drug related occurrences, areas of concern, age group of addicts and hot spots of drug abuse in the District.
The members of the Committee presented the latest report related to action taken against the menace of drug abuse and drug trafficking in the last 2 months .
The meeting also underscored the role and responsibilities of different stakeholders, departments, and committee members.
All participants were urged to collaborate collectively to eliminate the menace from the district.
The Deputy Commissioner called for intensifying the testing across all educational institutions, public places and in the Panchayats under surveillance.
SSP, while speaking in the meeting, informed that a comprehensive strategy is under implementation to keep check on the supply and demand sides which is vital to contain the drug peddling and break the supply chain. He also assured stringent action against the culprits involved in the hazardous trade of drugs.
The Narcotics Control Cell of the Police Department along with the Prosecution Officers/officials was directed to collaborate with Addiction Treatment Facility authorities and the Health Department.
The meeting stressed the need to guide addicted youth towards a drug-free life through avenues like sports, self employment opportunities, and rehabilitation measures.
The Enforcement agencies including Police and Excise etc were instructed to ensure 100 percent surveillance by installing CCTV cameras for monitoring, containment, and mitigation at Educational institutions, pharmacies, medical stores, and public spaces, besides issuing show cause notices to the medical stores who have not installed CCTV Cameras in their shops.
The Deputy Commissioner also emphasized the formation of Youth Clubs, Sports Clubs to diverge their minds from drug addiction.
Also, town beautification (wall Paintings) should be done by Ex Addicts in around town walls with specified themes so as to spread a message of change, emphasised the chair.
The DSWO was asked to procure additional testing Kits. Additionally, the police administration and relevant stakeholders were urged to play an active role in vulnerable panchayats.
The DC Stressed upon appointment of Nodal Officer in each School, besides Installation of hoardings in all schools, colleges and other important places with messages against drug abuse.
District Social Welfare Officer, Tariq Parvez was appointed as the Nodal Officer, NCORD from now on by the Deputy Commissioner .
