IRCS J&K organises series of welfare activities in Jammu City
JAMMU, MARCH 06: Indian Red Cross Society, J&K-UT is making all out efforts to reach out to different sections of the society who need help and compassion under the leadership of Shri Manoj Sinha, Lt. Governor (President, IRCS) MK and supervision of Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary, IRCS, J&K-UT.
Today, the Red Cross conducted Pulse Polio Immunization Drive, hosted a lecture on Menstrual Hygiene and distributed Sanitary Napkins and organised a First-Aid Training Programme at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni.
As part of the 3-day Pulse Polio immunization campaign, Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary, IRCS, J&K kick started the 3 day immunization programme at Red Cross Dispensary to immunize children under the age of five against polio. The on the first day, polio drops were administered at Red Cross Dispensary, Kachi Chawni, Jammu, whereas on 4th & 5th March, Red Cross staff went from door to door in the areas Tange wall Galli, Rani Park, Afghan Mohalla, Moti Bazar to cover the children for polio immunization.
The Indian Red Cross Society distributed free Sanitary Napkins to around 200 female students of 9th and 11th class of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kandoll Nagrota, Jammu followed by a lecture on Menstrual Hygiene.
The camp was inaugurated by Sudha Kumari, Principal, Govt. High School, Greater Kailash, Jammu. The lecture was delivered by Dr.Kavita Nijhon, Medical Officer. The camp was co-ordinated by Vironica Marwah, Field Officer, Indian Red Cross Society, J&K-UT.
An 8-day First-Aid Training Programme was held at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu for the Commercial Vehicle drivers and the youth of the society.
During the 8 day training, different topics were covered like Disaster Management during Earthquakes, Fires and Floods. They were informed about emergency techniques for handling bleeding patients, Fracture/accident victims. The Highlights of the programme were how to resuscitate a patient of fainting and Cardiac Arrest. Emphasis was laid on the Management of injuries, fracture, burns, control of bleeding, practical demonstrations of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Choking.
The practical and theoretical lectures were delivered by Dr. Kavita Nijhon Verma & Dr. Asia Noor, Medical Officers assisted by Kanchan Devi, & Ravi Kant Magotra, Sup. Pharmacists, Naziya Banoo, FMPHW and Joginder Kumar, Pharmacist IRCS, Jammu.
On the last day of session, Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary, IRCS J&K UT interacted with all the participants and issued Provisional certificates to them. The training went quite fruitful and ended on a good note.
