Jammu-Srinagar highway restricted tonight for road widening project; Travel advisory issued

In a move aimed at ensuring the safety of commuters and travelers, authorities have announced strict vehicular movement restrictions on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NHW-44).

Effective immediately tonight (Saturday, March 9th), no vehicular movement will be permitted from Qazigund in Kashmir towards Banihal, Ramsoo, Ramban, Doda, and other areas after 5 pm.

Similarly, from Nagrota in Jammu, the restriction will commence from 4 pm, and from Udhampur at 5 pm towards Ramban, Gool, Banihal, and adjacent regions.

The restrictions come as part of ongoing efforts to widen the carriageway to two lanes at key points along the highway, notably at Dalwas and other locations. This development aims to enhance the overall safety of the highway and accommodate the increasing traffic flow efficiently.

Travelers are urged to plan their journeys accordingly and avoid starting trips after the designated times. They are urged to consider alternative routes or adjust travel times to avoid inconvenience.

The move underscores the priority placed on the safety and well-being of the general populace, as well as the necessity of infrastructure development to meet the demands of growing traffic along this vital transportation artery.
