Distt Admin B’pora rebuts news item ‘Locals outraged as Contractor blocks Key Pedestrian Road in Bandipora’
Says, pedestrian road temporarily closed in view of ongoing construction work of Multi-Storied car parking
BANDIPORA, March 14: The District Administration Bandipora has issued clarification regarding a news item titled “Locals outraged as Contractor blocks Key Pedestrian Road in Bandipora” published in a local newspaper on 13th March, 2024.
In a statement issued here, the District Administration Bandipora has clarified that the pedestrian road mentioned in the news item has been temporarily closed in view of ongoing construction work of Multi-Storied car parking and in the interest of safety and well-being of the pedestrians and general public at large, as the executing agency has reported apprehension of any untoward accident due to the ongoing construction activities involving heavy construction material.
Moreover, Municipal Council, Bandipora has reported that no municipal asset/space is used, as such; no user charges can be levied.
It is further clarified that there are multiple adjacent pedestrian/ motorable link roads connecting the DC office road with the main market Bandipora, read the statement.
In this backdrop, District Administration, Bandipora has sought kind cooperation from the general public and requested to use other alternative pedestrian/ motorable roads until the time advisory from the executing agency is reviewed.
