Central University of Jammu in Collaboration with JKSDM Organised State Level India Skills Competition

 Jammu, March 14: Central University of Jammu in collaboration with Mission Directorate, J&K Skill Development Mission organised State Level India Skills Competition 2023-24. India Skills Competition is a biennial event in skill competition involving participation from all over the country. Today’s event witnessed participation of shortlisted candidates from across UT of Jammu and Kashmir.

The event marked the display of talent in Cloud Computing and Graphic Designing. The programme was formally inaugurated under the patronage of Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu by Prof. Yashwant Singh, Registrar, CUJ in presence of Ms. Leena Padha , Director Mission Directorate, J&K Skill Development Mission and Prof. Jaya Bhasin, Principal, Community College.

 Ms. Leena Padha, Director Mission Directorate, J&K Skill Development Mission in her address highlighted the key features of the competition and the role of Mission Directorate in this path breaking initiative towards providing a platform to youth of J&K for displaying their talent at national level. Prof. Yashwant Singh, Registrar CUJ apprised that the candidates shortlisted today will participate in the national competition which is scheduled later this year.

Ms. Leena further stressed that we have to give equal importance to competencies, applied knowledge and hands-on training to lead in the 21st century. 

Prof. Yashwant Singh, Registrar provided a brief overview of academic and research activities being carried out in the University. He reminded everyone of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi’s call for enhancing competency over acquiring degrees alone. Prof. Yashwant highlighted the importance of employable skills, which will increase market acceptance of the workforce. Mr. Zia-ul-haque Kohli, Joint Director, J&K Skill Development Department observed that the Department will collaborate with the University in future in executing skilling initiatives.

 Earlier, Prof Jaya Bhasin, Principal, Community College welcomed the participants and team of Mission Directorate, J&K Skill Development Mission. Prof. Bhasin in her address emphasized on the importance of Skilling and India Skills Competitions 2023-24. She apprised the audience that the University is extensively involved in promoting capacity building and skilling initiatives across Jammu and Kashmir. On this occasion a team of faculty members from Department of CS&IT   Prof. Yashwant Singh, Dr. Pradeep Kumar Singh, Dr. Neerinder Yadav, Dr. Arvind Salwal acted as Jury members whereas Mr. Zakir Sheikh, Mr. Dhruv Kumar provided technical support for the conduct of the competition. Dr. Shahid Mushtaq from School of Business Studies and Mr. Khalid Sheikh from Mission Directorate coordinated the entire event and proposed a formal vote of thanks.
