GCW Udhampur hosts Session on “Manufacturing Process of Cosmetics, perfumes from flora & fauna’
UDHAMPUR, FEBRUARY 2: To promote innovation and entrepreneurship among the students through multitudinous modes, a lecture on “Manufacturing Process of Cosmetics and perfumes from flora & fauna of Udhampur District in line with Problem-solution fit & Product-Market fit” was today organized by the Innovation Council (IIC) of Government College for Women (GCW), Udhampur here on the college campus.
The aim of the Program was to educate students that they could make their own cosmetics and fragrances at home using plants.
The College Principal, Dr. Monika Sharma was the chief guest of the event attended by more than 80 students.
The programme was held under the supervision of Kewal Kumar, Vice-president IIC, GCW Udhampur J&K (UT) and Binny Kumar, (Convener), Innovation activity Coordinator, NIRF Coordinator.
The resource person on the occasion was Dr. Sheeraz Ahmed, Department of Chemistry, from Government College for Women Udhampur.
Dr. Monika Sharma appreciated the organizers for hosting such an informative lecture, which would help in creating awareness among students as well as common people about how the local flora and fauna can be converted into innovative entrepreneurship opportunities in the district.
Resource person, Dr. Sheeraz Ahmed discussed the importance of organic and plant-based extracts that can be used as cosmetics. He also highlighted the harmful effects of Synthetic Cosmetics.
Later, Binny Kumar, HOD Commerce, Government College for Women, Udhampur also shared his insights on how local plants based products can be converted into a successful brand.
The program ended with the formal vote of thanks presented by Arun Gupta(librarian).
Among others, Kewal Kumar (Vice President IIC), Arun Gupta, Dr. Yash Paul, Dr. Shweta Sharma, Rajeev Singh, Yash Kumar, Tania Mahajan, other faculty members, members of Institutional Innovation council and large number students were present on the occasion.
