Orientation/ Training programme on ‘Promotion of Oilseeds’ held at Lalmandi

SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 03: The Divisional level Orientation cum Training programme on ‘Promotion of Oilseeds’ was today held at Agriculture Complex Lal Mandi, here.

The training programme was inaugurated by Joint Director, Agriculture Extension, M Syeed peer.

In his inaugural address, Joint Director (Ext) said that from last more than two years department is already working on a multidimensional programme for the promotion of oilseeds, especially mustard in the region where in new areas are brought under its cultivation and farmers at large scale are made aware of the economic importance of oil seed in the overall development of agriculture sector.

He said Massive campaigns under the national Mission on edible oils were held in which a series of events including field visits, participation in oilseeds, sowing operations, awareness programmes for farmers and interactive sessions with the farmers were organised by the department across the Valley.

Peer said that now under the holistic document, special focus has been shifted to the promotion of oil seed in the UT of J&K. He asked the officers of the agriculture and allied departments to work in coordination for the promotion of oilseeds, successful implementation of other projects under the holistic document.

The programme was attended by Joint Director Apiculture and Mushroom, Tabassum Naz; Joint Director Animal Husbandry, Dr Mohammed Hussain and Agrostologist Kashmir, Mohammed Rafique.

 Officers of the Agriculture department, Animal husbandry department, SKUAST-K and of other allied departments were present in the training program.
